EVERETT — Senior Tyler Uddin scored two long-range goals and Jordan Myers added another to give the Knights a Wesco South win and bragging rights over their rival.
“It was a big match, the players wanted it,” Knights head coach Garfield Scott said. “Not only for the three points in league, but also for the Mukilteo Cup.”
Even though Kamiak dropped the first meeting between the two schools 2-0, Scott decided not to make any tactical adjustments for the second match.
His faith was rewarded early, when, in the 12th minute, Uddin recovered the ball in the Maruaders’ end and smashed home a shot off the crossbar from 30 yards out.
The Knights doubled their lead 10 minutes before halftime when Jordan Myers slotted home a rebound off a Alec Henderson shot.
Uddin notched his second in the 71st, drilling an even longer shot, “around 35 yards out” according to Scott, to finish off the scoring in style.
The win pushes Kamiak to just two points behind Mariner for second place in the Wesco South and the Knights have a game in hand on the Maruaders. But while both teams face Edmonds-Woodway and Cascade down the stretch, Kamiak also hosts Wesco South leader Jackson. Still, Scott doesn’t want his team to get ahead of themselves.
“It’s just a matter of one match at a time,” Scott said. “We don’t want to underestimate or give one team too much respect.”
