EVERETT — It’s always a close game when these Wesco South rivals get together in a boys soccer match, and Saturday’s game was no different as Mariner’s Yahir Sandoval had a hat trick for the Marauders.
His three goals led Mariner to not only a win over a conference rival, but also to the Marauders’ second victory in three games this season.
Kamiak’s (0-3) Sammy Cho scored his team’s only goal in the 10th minute off an assist by Sean Wagner. Sandoval’s only first-half goal came in the 28th minute of play, tying the game at 1-1 going into halftime.
In the second half, Sandoval took over, scoring a goal in the 52nd minute on a long assist from his goalkeeper Ulises Hernandez. His third and final goal came in the 70th minute. Teammate Miguel Medina added Mariner’s fourth goal in the 87th minute.
In goal for Mariner was Hernandez, and Austin Porter was in goal for Kamiak.
