Prep boys swimming: Kamiak captures South title

MUKILTEO — Kamiak completed its unbeaten Wesco South boys swimming season on Thursday by winning dual meets against Lynnwood and Meadowdale.

The Knights beat Lynnwood 110-34 and Meadowdale 126-41. The two victories clinched the league championship for Kamiak.

“It was a very nice team accomplishment,” Kamiak coach Chris Erickson said. “Of course we still have to take care of Glacier Peak and Snohomish on Tuesday for an undefeated season, which I know the school hasn’t had in over 10 years and never in 4A.”

In the meet against Meadowdale there were 14 state qualifying times, 11 by Kamiak.

Daniel Schmidt and Tyler Carriker also continued their battle for fastest sprinter on the team. Thursday belonged to Schmidt, as he edged Carriker with a time of 22.24 seconds. Carriker finished with a time of 22.35.

“The seniors are leading the way with their amazing performances,” Erickson said.
