MUKILTEO — Jackson remains undefeated, beating Kamiak 7-0 in Wesco 4A south play, but the lopsided score doesn’t tell the whole story. Kamiak head coach Vic Alinen had a plan going into the match with a team he described as “hella good this year.”
“Their week link is their doubles play. … I told my guys we have a shot if we play great tennis and beat their doubles.”
Kamiak was closer than it seems to executing that plan. The Knights started two of the doubles matches with wins, and Joseph Lee had a tight first game against James Okubo. Lee started the game by going up 5-2 and was serving for the win, but Okubo broke serve and dominated the rest of the match.
“Momentum in this game swings swiftly,” said Alinen.
