Prep football: Black leads Mariner past Terrace

EVERETT — Mariner running back Adrien Black scorched Mountlake Terrace’s defense for 164 yards on nine carries and scored two touchdowns on runs of 62 and 29 yards in the Marauders 49-13 Wesco South win Friday at Goddard Stadium.

Terrace connected on a 77-yard pass from Brandyn Eckhart to Billy Lechtenberg to close the gap to 21-7 heading into halftime. Pressure up the middle from the Marauder defense prompted Eckhart to roll out of the pocket and hit the long bomb.

But it was all Mariner in the second half as it connected on a pair of touchdown passes and runs.

Mariner quarterback A.J. VanWieringen added to Mariner’s fine play, going 8-for-16 for 74 yards with a running touchdown and passing touchdown.

Terrace’s Eckhart was 4-for-13 for 83 yards, including one interception.
