EVERETT — Everett had a chance to leapfrog Lynnwood in the Wesco 3A girls basketball standings but the Royals proved to be too strong, winning 57-41 on the road Wednesday.
The Seagulls committed 18 first-hald turnovers and Lynnwood collected 18 first-half offensive rebounds. And yet Everett trailed by just two points at halftime.
However, Lynnwood outscored Everett 19-10 in the third period.
“In the second half they attacked the basket well,” Everett coach John Low said of his opponents. “They spread out 19 points with no one scoring more than four. It was a great team quarter.”
Everett cut the deficit to eight points in the fourth quarter but Lynnwood’s Meghan Cross made six of 10 free throws in the period to help stave off the Seagulls.
