STANWOOD — In a Wesco North game with huge playoff implications, senior guard Suzanna Ohlsen stole the show. She scored a game-high 31 points for Monroe, and hit on 13 of her 14 free throws.
Stanwood’s Jade Borseth guarded Ohlsen, and played excellent defense before getting in foul trouble, according to Stanwood head coach Dennis Kloke.
“We’re a young team. These are tough district games,” he said.
Before tipoff, both teams knew that a win, combined with a Snohomish loss, would clinch a 4A District 1 playoff berth and maintain their pursuit of a first-place finish in Wesco North. Monroe clinched the playoff spot as Marysville-Pilchuck beat Snohomish 36 to 23.
