MONROE — In a Wednesday night 4A District 1 playoff game at Monroe High School, a noisy and rambunctious home-court atmosphere helped Monroe force Kamiak into 39 turnovers, resulting in a 59-44 Bearcats’ victory.
Monroe’s Suzanna Ohlsen scored 23 points and played a solid defensive game with 10 steals. Kylie Smith and Kierra Wilkins led the team in rebounds, each finishing with six apiece.
Kamiak’s senior point guard Lexie Burns led her team with 17 points. Her teammate Kate Blackwell added 12 points, shooting 8-for-10 from the free-throw line.
With the win, Monroe plays Marysville-Pilchuck next. Monroe beat M-P on the road earlier in the season.
