EVERETT — Cascade Conference rivals Archbishop Murphy and King’s each played a fast-paced offensive attack on Wednesday night, but stellar goalkeeping kept both teams from scoring as the game finished in a 0-0 tie after two overtime periods.
“It was a counter-attacking war,” Murphy head coach Michael Bartley said. “Both goalies were outstanding. It was an awesome game.”
Natalie Robinson made several key saves in goal for the Wildcats and Madie Nielson recorded the shutout for the Knights.
“By far I thought I saw the best two keepers in our league tonight,” Bartley said. “They both were playing excellent tonight.”
Wednesday’s tie was the first blemish on King’s previously perfect record.
The Wildcats will face Cedarcrest on Saturday and the winner will earn the No. 1 seed in the 2A district tournament. Cedarcrest defeated Murphy 1-0 earlier in the season.
“They know what Saturday is and they are looking forward to it,” Bartley said of his players. “It will be a good game.”
