DUVALL — Cedarcrest took an early lead (13th minute) in Tuesday’s Cascade Conference girls soccer game against Lakewood on a free kick by McKenna Swanson from 25 yards out that deflected off the player wall and into the goal. It was a lead the Red Wolves never lost in registering a 3-1 win.
Cedarcrest scored twice more (21st minute by Gwen Bieck, assist Karli White and 64th minute by Maggie Pleis, assist Gwen Bieck). The Red Wolvesgave one back in the 55th minute to midfielder Hailey Dutsman.
Cedarcrest (7-1 league, 9-1 overall) and Lakewood (6-2, 7-2) went into the game in a three way tie for first place in the Cascade Conference along with Archbishop Murphy.
Cedarcrest coach Evan Hatch said that Lakewood work really well together as a team, but also said his team created more offensive opportunities and shots than usual tonight. “Their goalie (Miranda Head) is the best in the league. she had eight saves tonight.”
Nichole Pearson and Bailey Parish shared time in goal for Cedarcrest.
