EDMONDS — It was Edmonds-Woodway head coach Bill LeCompte called an, “ultimately wild ending”, the Warriors drew for the first time all season as their game with Jackson ended in a 1-1 tie in a Wesco 4A South matchup.
The wild ending occurred when a Jackson goal was dissallowed as the horn blew as the ball was still in the air before ultimately going into the net as regulation expired.
Drew Locknane of the Timberwolves scored the games first goal in the 66th minute. Edmonds-Woodway’s Riley Peterson would score one minute later off a shot that was deflected by a Jackson defender that would tie the game up at one.
“Jackson does a really good job at defending”, said LeCompte. “They play in this quick manor that slows down the attack pretty quick. We didn’t have many opportunties.”
Jackson held Edmonds-Woodway to eight shots on goal, while Warriors goalie Kira Towell really only had to contend with one shot that came near the goal.
“The one shot that went in (for Jackson) was one of the best shots that (Towell) had to contend,” added LeCompte. “It was a great strike from about 30 yards. (Locknane) laced it up and went and stretched it in.”
