Prep girls soccer: Jackson 1, Mount Vernon 0

EVERETT — Drew Locknane scored in the 12th minute for the only goal of the match and the Jackson girls soccer team held on to defeat Mount Vernon 1-0 in the 4A District 1 Tournament on Tuesday night.

“It was really important to come out and get a win tonight,” Jackson head coach Jesslyn Kellerman said. “The girls know how much is on the line this week so it was good to see them step up to the challenge.”

After a corner kick by Jadyn Edwards was mishandled by the Mount Vernon goalkeeper, Locknane cashed in for the Timberwolves, who advance to face Kamiak in the district championship on Thursday.

“Its really telling of the season she has had,” Kellerman said of Locknane. “She can score in a lot of different ways so its great to see her step up to the challenge.”

Callie Vanaelst recorded the shutout in goal for the Timberwolves.
