SHORELINE — A tense 1-1 game in the first half led to a second half full of goals for Shorecrest as they defeated Mountlake Terrace Thursday night in a Wesco 3A girls soccer game.
“We addressed the fact that we came out pretty flat (in the first half). We had a bye on Tuesday, so we weren’t in our normal rhythm. Mountlake Terrace came out strong,” Shorecrest head coach Mindy Dalziel said about her team’s first-half performance.
Goals from Shorecrest’s Sophia Viviano and Mounlake Terrace’s Lily Hart left the score tied at the half.
“We played much better as a team in the second half,” Dalziel said.
Midfielder Elizabeth Homldahl, defender Kayla Holland and Viviano — Shorecrest’s leading scorer — all scored in the second half.
“Sophia (Viviano) has come out of her shell this year. We rely on Sophia because she’s a good player and she helps our team by scoring or (getting assists),” Dalziel said.
The backline for the Scots did their job as well.
“Our defenders stepped up in the second half and really held Terrace to not many shots.” Dalziel said. Shorecrest goalkeeper Kate Wiper saw only six shots on goal in the second half.
“We play really well together.” Dalziel said about staying undefeated in leage play. “We can make adjustments and sub players in and our quality of play does not change. This team really fights.”
