SNOHOMISH — Ellie Otteson and Quinn Otteson scored goals on headers three minutes apart in the final five minutes to give Snohomish a 3-1 win over Mount Vernon and give the Panthers a share of the Wesco 4A lead on Tuesday night.
Snohomish coach April VanAssche said her team created numerous chances in the second half but couldn’t find the final touch until the 73rd minute.
“We just lacked a little composure in front of the net,” she said. “Mount Vernon scored first to put us on our heels a little bit, but we kept pushing and created a lot of opportunities with great ball movement.”
Coupled with Jackson’s loss to Kamiak on Tuesday night, the Panthers and Timberwolves are both 6-1 atop the Wesco 4A division.
“It’s nice, but I hope it doesn’t change anything for us mentally,” VanAssche said of being in first place. “It’s nice to have the confidence that being in first place brings, but there is pressure that comes with it.”
Snohomish travels to Kamiak on Thursday.
