STANWOOD — A week after losing in the 3A South singles title match, Glacier Peak’s Nadean Al-Ali bounced back to beat Shorecrest’s Jenny Sui 6-1, 6-3 in the championship match of singles play in the 3A NW District 1 tournament on Wednesday at Stanwood H.S. Al-Ali and Sui both advance to next week’s state tournament along with Sui’s teammate, Meera Limaya, who handed Al-Ali her first loss of the season in last week’s Wesco 3A South championship match.
In doubles play Mountlake Terrace’s Nicki Bouche and Tina Liu beat Shorewood’s Daniella Brengelmann and Francesca O’Malley in the doubles championship match. Stanwood’s Christine Wolf and Rachel Rich won the consolation final to also advance to state.
