Prep girls tennis: Stanwood 4, Shorewood 3

STANWOOD — Stanwood No. 2 doubles team Sara Schagel and Danica Nash held off a feisty team of Jenny Alin and Genevieve O’Malley to win their match and help the Spartans sweep doubles play in a victory over Shorewood in a matchup of Wesco 3A powers. Stanwood won despite dropping three of the four singles matches. Spartans singles player Rachel Rich beat Marija Feller in No. 4 singles. The loss means Shorewood finishes tied for second along with Glacier Peak behind Shorecrest, which beat the Grizzlies 5-2 on Friday.
