Four local prep events to keep an eye on this week:
Baseball: Monroe vs. Cascade, 4 p.m. Tuesday at Monroe H.S. and 4 p.m. Wednesday at Cascade H.S. Two of the top Wesco 4A teams meet for a two-game series. Cascade is off to an 8-2 start, sitting atop the conference standings with a 4-1 record. Monroe is 4-2 in Wesco 4A play, averaging a league-best 8.3 runs per game.
Softball: Edmonds-Woodway at Snohomish, 4 p.m. Friday. Snohomish leads the Wesco 3A North with a 9-0 record in conference play. Edmonds-Woodway sits atop the Wesco 3A South with a 7-1 league record. Snohomish is led by recent Missouri State University signee Bailey Greenlee, who has a 1.83 earned-run average and 87 strikeouts in 42 innings this season.
Boys soccer: Snohomish at Edmonds-Woodway, 7:30 p.m. Friday. Snohomish entered Monday night having won five straight matches. Edmonds-Woodway has won eight of its past nine. Both teams are in the mix for the Wesco 3A title heading into the final two-plus weeks of the regular season.
Track and field: Eason Invitational, 10 a.m. Saturday at Veterans Memorial Stadium. More than 80 schools are slated to descend on Snohomish High School for one of the state’s most prestigious track and field meets. The 30th annual Eason Invite includes local teams from Archbishop Murphy, Cascade, Cedarcrest, Edmonds-Woodway, Everett, Glacier Peak, Granite Falls, Kamiak, Mariner, Marysville Pilchuck, Meadowdale, Monroe, Mountlake Terrace, Snohomish and Stanwood.
