Four prep events to keep an eye on this week:
Girls basketball: Lake Stevens at Glacier Peak, 7:15 p.m. Tuesday. Led by standout point guard Raigan Reed, Lake Stevens topped 70 points in each of its first two conference games. Glacier Peak and its high-pressure defense, meanwhile, yielded just 36 points combined in its first two league contests. In this showdown of Wesco 4A title contenders, something has to give.
Girls basketball: Snohomish at Shorecrest, 7:15 p.m. Tuesday. Shorecrest is off to a 4-1 start behind Amanda Lee, who’s averaging 17.6 points per game. The Scots figure to be tested by the always-stingy defense of defending Wesco 3A champion Snohomish, which takes an 18-game league winning streak into this conference clash.
Boys wrestling: Everett at Marysville Pilchuck, 7 p.m. Thursday. Two of the top programs in the area square off in a Wesco 3A North showdown. Marysville Pilchuck is ranked 11th in the state’s 3A classification by Washington Wrestling Report.
Boys basketball: Mountlake Terrace at Arlington, 7:15 p.m. Friday. Reigning Wesco 3A champion Mountlake Terrace is off to a 4-0 start and has held three of its four opponents to less than 50 points. Arlington is led by Anthony Whitis, who has averaged 20 points per game during the Eagles’ 5-2 start.
