First round
Mountlake Terrace 1, Auburn Mountainview 0
EDMONDS — Ally Villalobos Van Slooten scored on an assist from Natalie Cardin in the second half and No. 14-seed Mountlake Terrace held on to beat No. 19 Auburn Mountainview in the first girls state soccer game for the Hawks since 1990.
Sierra Sonko tallied the shutout in goal for Mountlake Terrace (12-3-4), which advanced to face No. 3 Lakeside in the Round of 16 on Friday at Interbay Stadium.
Auburn Mountainview finished its season with a 10-7-1 overall record.
Lakes 1, Snohomish 0
LAKEWOOD — Eighteenth-seeded Snohomish fell to No. 15 Lakes in the opening round of the 3A state tournament.
Snohomish finished its season with a 12-8-0 overall record.
Lakes (10-3-4) advanced to face No. 2 Auburn Riverside in the Round of 16 on Friday.

VOLLEYBALL
2A DISTRICT 1 TOURNAMENT
Semifinals (winner to state, non-elimination)
Burlington-Edison 3, Archbishop Murphy 2
BURLINGTON — Third-seeded Archbishop Murphy rallied to force a fifth set, but fell to No. 2 Burlington-Edison by scores of 25-17, 25-9, 21-25, 21-25 and 15-5 in the winner-to-state semifinals of the 2A District 1 Tournament.
Archbishop Murphy dropped into the consolation bracket and will face either No. 5 Sedro-Woolley or No. 8 Sehome in a loser-out match on Saturday at Squalicum High School.
The Wildcats will need to win two matches on Saturday to reach the 2A state tournament.
