EDMONDS — It took a little extra time, but the Marysville-Pilchuck girls basketball team hung in and defeated Edmonds-Woodway 59-57 in overtime in a first-round game of the 4A District 1 tournament at Edmonds-Woodway High School.
“It was back and forth the entire game,” E-W head coach Wayne Edwards said. “Nobody got a big lead.”
Britt Harris led the Tomahawks (15-6 overall) with 20 points, including a field goal in overtime that helped put M-P up for good.
“(Harris) played well the entire game,” Edwards said.
M-P moves on to face Snohomish on Saturday at 6 p.m. in a winner-to-state game on their home court.
The Warriors (16-5) were led by the 26 points of sophomore Angela Woods, who also contributed seven rebounds, four steals and three assists.
E-W plays Cascade in a loser-out game at noon Saturday at Marysville-Pilchuck High School.

Kamiak 56, Arlington 53: At Arlington, Kamiak finished the 4A District 1 playoff game on a 17-2 run. Michelle Lipscomb (15 points) and Kariah Kussman (11 points) led a balanced Kamiak attack. Samantha Sovich had five steals, giving her a season total of 89, breaking her school record.
Kamiak (15-6 overall) moves on to face Oak Harbor in a winner-to-state game Saturday at 8 p.m. at Marysville-Pilchuck High School, while Arlington (14-7) will play Wesco South No. 1 seed Jackson in a loser out game Saturday at 2 p.m.
