SHORELINE – The King’s football team was looking for a leader to help it turn around a disappointing season.
That leader emerged Saturday, when junior running back Victor Quan rushed for 236 yards on 16 carries and scored two touchdowns for King’s in a 43-7 non-conference victory over Darrington.
“Victor Quan definitely stood out tonight,” King’s coach Jim Shapiro said. “He broke some tackles which turned into some long gains. He helped us shake off our slow start and we finished strong.”
Darrington’s James Dolph scored on a one-yard touchdown run in the second quarter, then he kicked the extra point to tie the score at 7-7.
Ryan Dixon gave King’s the lead back for good on a 48-yard touchdown reception from quarterback Chris Faidley later in the second quarter, and it was all Quan from there.
Quan scored on touchdown runs of 60 and 41 yards to seal the King’s victory.
On defense, King’s senior captain inside linebacker Brady Butler had 13 unassisted tackles and teammate Rob Waldburger intercepted a Darrington pass in the third quarter to set up the first King’s score of the second half.
Dolph led Darrington by rushing for 120 yards on 29 carries.
