Eason Invitational

SNOHOMISH — Glacier Peak sprinters had a strong showings on Saturday at the 35th Eason Invitational. Defending 200-meter state champion Mateo Ganje ran a personal-best 21.46 seconds, while teammates Alieukama Badjie ran personal bests to finish third and fourth, respectively in the 100. The three sprinters teamed up with freshman Grant Woods win win the 400-meter relay. Mountlake Terrace’s Brynlee Dubiel was also among several local event winners, claiming titles in both the 100 and 300 hurdles to help the Hawks win the team competition.

Five area girls four-kilogram hammer throwers placed in the top 10 on Friday afternoon. King’s’ Kimberly Beard (174 feet, 11 inches) blew away the field of 17 qualifiers to finish first, while Kaelynn Bahnmiller of King’s (138-6) took second place. Three Snohomish athletes in Abigail Jorgensen (sixth, 100-1), Madeline Alford (eighth, 84-11) and Emily Mauro (10th, 75-10) filled out the top 10. Three boys 12-pound hammer throwers claimed top-10 finishes out of 32 qualifiers: Kamiak’s Teerapaht Phongprasansak (third, 164-7), Snohomish’s Timothy Davis (fifth, 161-11) and Kamiak’s Noah Haller (seventh, 156-6).
