BOYS BASKETBALL

1A District 2 Tournament

Quarterfinals (non-elimination)

Seattle Academy 69, Sultan 59

SEATTLE — Eli Trichler made five 3-pointers and had a game-high 27 points, but the sixth-seeded Turks fell to the third-seeded Cardinals in a 1A District 2 Tournament quarterfinal matchup.

Toby Trichler scored 22 points and five others chipped in two points apiece for Sultan (17-3). The Turks host 12th-seeded South Whidbey in a loser-out consolation bracket game Friday.

Alex McCleery-Brown netted 19 points to pace Seattle Academy (12-8). The Cardinals advance to face second-seeded Overlake in a winner-to-state-regionals district semifinal contest Tuesday, Feb. 14.

King’s 76, Summit Sierra 37

SHORELINE — The top-seeded Knights cruised past the ninth-seeded Spartans in a 1A District 2 Tournament quarterfinal contest.

King’s (15-5) advances to face fourth-seeded Northwest in a winner-to-state-regionals district semifinal game Tuesday, Feb. 14.

Summit Sierra (9-10) falls to the consolation bracket and faces 10th-seeded University Prep on Friday.

GIRLS BASKETBALL

4A District 1/2 Tournament

First round (loser out)

Kamiak 69, North Creek 61

MUKILTEO — Nayella George scored 16 of her game-high 24 points in the second half and the eighth-seeded Knights earned a victory over the ninth-seeded Jaguars in a loser-out 4A Wes-King Bi-District Tournament first-round matchup.

Vivian Mawudeku made 14 of 20 free-throw attempts on her way to 18 points and Bella Hasan added 12 points for Kamiak (9-12). The Knights advance to face top-seeded Woodinville on Friday at Woodinville High School.

Mikah Hammerquist netted 19 points to pace North Creek, which finished the season at 10-13.

3A District 1 Tournament

First round (loser out)

Snohomish 50, Oak Harbor 27

SNOHOMISH — Tyler Gildersleeve-Stiles led a balanced effort with 12 points and the sixth-seeded Panthers used a stout defensive effort to cruise past the 11th-seeded Wildcats.

Jada Andresen scored 10 points, Cora Larson had nine, Baella Stich added eight and Kendall Hammer chipped in six for Snohomish (14-7). The Panthers advance to face third-seeded Everett on Friday at Everett High School.

Oak Harbor ends the season at 11-10.

Meadowdale 43, Shorecrest 27

LYNNWOOD — Gia Powell scored 16 points and the fifth-seeded Mavericks pulled away in the second half to beat the 12th-seeded Scots in a loser-out 3A District 1 Tournament first-round matchup.

Ava Powell added eight points and Audrey Lucas chipped in six and Meadowdale (16-5), which outscored Shorecrest 28-12 after entering halftime tied at 15. The Mavericks advance to face fourth-seeded Lynnwood on Friday at Lynnwood High School.

Cassandra Chesnut netted 12 points to lead Shorecrest, which finishes the season at 10-10.

Monroe 56, Mountlake Terrace 51

MOUNTLAKE TERRACE — The ninth-seeded Bearcats topped the eighth-seeded Hawks in a loser-out 3A District 1 Tournament first-round contest.

Monroe (13-7) advances to face top-seeded Arlington on Friday at Arlington High School.

Mountlake Terrace ends the season at 11-10.

Ferndale 33, Shorewood 27

FERNDALE — The seventh-seeded Golden Eagles prevailed in a defensive battle with the 10th-seeded Stormrays in a loser-out 3A District 1 Tournament first-round battle.

Ferndale (12-9) advances to face second-seeded Stanwood on Friday at Stanwood High School.

Shorewood finishes the season at 10-11.

2A District 1 Tournament

Play-in games (loser out)

Cedarcrest 42, Bellingham 29

BELLINGHAM — The ninth-seeded Red Wolves bested the eighth-seeded Bayhawks in a 2A District 1 Tournament play-in game.

Cedarcrest (4-17) advances to face top-seeded Lynden on Friday at Lynden High School.

Bellingham finishes the season at 5-16.

Lakewood 63, Sedro-Woolley 20

ARLINGTON — Frankee Powers scored 16 points and Leiana Riveira had 15 points as the seventh-seeded Cougars ran away early en route to a victory over the 10th-seeded Cubs in a 2A District 1 Tournament play-in game.

Alaina Jones added nine points for Lakewood (9-12). The Cougars advance to face second-seeded Burlington-Edison on Friday at Burlington-Edison High School.

Sedro-Woolley ends the season at 1-20.
