Prep Roundup: Hawks wins softball opener

MOUNTLAKE TERRACE — Rene Bos pitched seven innings, allowing two runs — zero earned — and struck out three, getting the Mountlake Terrace softball team off to a 1-0 mark in a 9-2 non-conference victory over Monroe (0-1) Monday.

Chelsea Crews was 2-for-4, Mindy James was 3-for-4, and Takara Mitsui was 2-for-2, accounting for more than half of Terrace’s 13 hits in the game.

The Hawks jumped out to a 1-0 lead after the first inning, but Monroe answered with two runs in the top half of the second.

Terrace went on to score five more in the bottom of the third and three runs in the sixth, and Bos allowed zero runs in the final five innings.
