PREP ROUNDUP: Oak Harbor wins Wesco North swim crown

OAK HARBOR — The Oak Harbor girls swim team had no trouble with Cascade Wednesday night on the way to a 137-48 victory that secured both an undefeated season and Wesco North title.

“We did an awesome job,” Oak Harbor coach Erika Miller said “These girls are incredible.”

The Wildcats took every event at Vanderzicht Pool but the 100-meter butterfly, which was captured by Cascade’s Kalena Laurent in 1 minute, 6.78 seconds.

For Miller the success of her girls this year has not been a big surprise.

“I knew we had the talent,” the fourth-year coach said. “We really came together as a team. I had two really good captains and a strong freshman group. And that combination is a great team.”
