PREP ROUNDUP: Potent Lake Stevens lineup too much for Cascade

LAKE STEVENS — The Lake Stevens Vikings scored a whopping nine runs in the second inning and their defense kept Cascade off the scoreboard as a well-rounded Lake Stevens squad blanked the Bruins 16-0 in a five-inning Wesco North game Thursday.

The potent Lake Stevens lineup cracked six doubles in the second inning alone to remain unbeaten on the season.

“It was a good day for us,” said Lake Stevens head coach Rodger Anderson. “Almost everyone who got in the game had a hit.”

The Vikes padded their lead in the fourth inning as a result of home runs off the bats of J. T. Cox and Sam Parris. The long balls were not wind-aided, though.

“We thought for sure weather would be a factor,” said Anderson. “We did get hailed on, but we got the game in.”

Cox, Parris and starting pitcher Dylan LaVelle each had three RBI for Lake Stevens.

The Vikings’ pitching was as impressive as their offense, as the trio of LaVelle, Brandon Fiske and Sean Moran combined to four-hit the Bruins, striking out 13 along the way.

Doug Ehlebracht was Murphy’s keeper. Matt Matysik tended the nets for King’s.
