PREP ROUNDUP: Shorewood extends its baseball season

SHORELINE—Kevin Moriarty pitched six and a third innings without giving up an earned run and Trevor Mitsui and Max Jacobs homered to lift Shorewood to a 3-2 win over Oak Harbor in a 4A District 1 baseball play-in game Wednesday at Shorewood H.S.

Oak Harbor jumped out to a 2-0 lead thanks to an error in the second inning, but Moriarty settled in, striking out 10 and walking five before giving way to Blake Snell, who recorded the save.

Both Mitsui and Jacobs batted 2-for-3.

Shorewood advanced to the first round of the district tournament and plays at Kamiak at 1 p.m. Saturday.

Coupeville 6, Lynden Christian 4: At Lynden, Coupeville’s JD Wilcox batted 2-for-4 with a double and RBI and pitched the final three innings, including a scoreless seventh in the loser-out 1A District 1 playoff game. Kevin Eaton had two-run double in the fourth to give Coupeville a 5-0 lead. Center fielder Alex McClain made a catch against the fence in the sixth inning to hold Lynden Christian to one run in the inning. Coupeville will face Meridian at noon Saturday at Pipeline Fields in Blaine in a winner to tri-district semifinal.
