Prep soccer: Mount Vernon Christian 3, Grace Academy 1

MOUNT VERNON — A pair of second half goals by Seth Parman got Mount Vernon Christian the District One league win. The Hurricanes also clinched the District One championship and the No. 1 seed in the Bi-District tournament according to Mount Vernon Christian head coach Robert Adeline, who said it was only the second district championship for the team since its formation in 1990.

Dalton McIlrath got on the board first for the Hurricanes in the 18th minute off a Caleb Riley assist, but Chanel Thompson evened the score for Grace Academy in the 51st minute off an assist by Sam Galbreath. Grace Academy couldn’t hold off the Hurricane’s, however, giving up two goals in the late game.
