SNOHOMISH — Glacier Peak scored twice in the bottom of the seventh inning to rally past Meadowdale in a Wesco 3A game.
Down 4-3 heading the last frame, the Grizzlies had the top of the order due up. Leadoff hitter Alexis Michael came through, with what Grizzlies head coach Brad Johnson described as a “huge, clutch” hit.
Michael took second on an errant throw and was bunted over to third. Glacier Peak pitcher Callie Bircher singled Michael home to tie the score at 4-4. Annie Reynolds followed with another base hit to move Bircher to third. With two outs, Elaine Lytle hit a shallow flare that eluded the Meadowdale right fielder and second baseman to bring home Bircher with the winning run.
Bircher had a solid game in the circle, going the distance and striking out 10. Reynolds went 2-for-2, including a solo home run in the second and was intentionally walked twice.
Catcher Shannon Haukap went 3-for-4 at the plate to lead the Mavericks, while pitcher Alyssa Reuble walked three times. The duo, Johnson noted, “makes Meadowdale a tough club to face.”
