Prep softball: Lynnwood 3, Glacier Peak 1

LYNNWOOD — After leaving the bases loaded in the first and third innings and stranding two runners in the fourth, Lynnwood softball coach Matt Rockne thought the Royals would eventually breakthrough.

The Royals did in the fifth inning.

Lynnwood freshman Desiree Graham hit a two-run triple to center to erase a 1-0 Glacier Peak lead. Lynnwood tacked on another run in the inning en route to the victory in the Wesco 3A game.

Callie Bircher and Annie Reynolds each went 2-for-3 for Glacier Peak, but the Grizzlies missed a golden opportunity in the first inning.

Bircher hit an RBI single but Lynnwood tagged out two base runners in two separate rundowns on the play.

“Our defense was solid, we committed no errors and all of (Glacier Peak’s) hits were singles,” Rockne said. “Everyone made the plays they needed to.”

Pitcher Erica Gott was the primary benefactor of the excellent glove work. Gott pitched a complete game, allowing eight hits en route to her third victory of the season.
