LAKE STEVENS — Alyssa Egan threw a two-hitter and Devin Larsen hit a home run as the Monroe softball team defeated Lake Stevens 2-1 in a Wesco North game Friday at Lake Stevens High School.
For the Bearcats, it was their first conference game of the season and improved their overall record to 2-2. Lake Stevens fell to 1-3 in the league and overall.
Monroe scored a single run in both the fourth and fifth innings and Egan was nearly matched by Vikings pitcher Maggie McCrory, who allowed just seven hits. Lake Stevens managed to get a run off of Egan in the sixth inning but that was all the Bearcat hurler allowed.
Egan also had two hits, including a double, and Larsen also had two hits. Lexi Trombley, Ashley Autrey and Britney Hedin had the other hits — all singles — for Monroe.
Senior Tayler Blumenfeld and junior Bridget Kyle were the only two Vikings players to manage hits against Egan.
