PREP SOFTBALL ROUNDUP

EVERETT — Cascade and Marysville-Pilchuck came into Tuesday night’s Wesco North softball game right next to each other near the middle of the division standings. With a 3-1 victory, Cascade moved closer to the top and a possible district tournament playoff berth.

Samantha Munger earned the win for Cascade, pitching a complete game and giving up just four hits. Riley Fritz got the loss for Marysville, but she also pitched a complete game, giving up just three hits.

“I’d say it was a pitching duel,” Cascade coach Wendy Close said. “The defense was real good too.”

Munger avoided a scoring threat in the sixth inning, before Cascade scored its two winning runs.

“Samantha got out of a big jam in the sixth inning, they had the bases loaded.” Close said.

Freshman Megan Miller batted 2-for-3 for Cascade.
