PREP SOFTBALL ROUNDUP: Jackson’s Robison throws six-hitter at Kamiak

MILL CREEK — The Jackson Timberwolves softball team remained undefeated with a 6-1 win over the Wesco South second place squad, Glacier Peak, 6-1 Tuesday at Jackson H.S.

Lindsay Robison pitched a complete game for Jackson, allowing just one run on six hits with two strikeouts and three walks.

“She did a nice job,” Jackson head coach Mike Moran said of Robison’s outing. “Glacier Peak is a good-hitting team and she sort of kept them off balance … mixed her pitches really well and our defense played well behind her.”

Robison also helped her own cause, batting 2-for-4 with a double that scored Megan Cooley for the go-ahead run in the fifth inning. The fifth frame ended up being Glacier Peak’s undoing as it committed a pair of errors in addition to Robison’s hit which helped the Timberwolves (7-0 league, 9-0 overall) score five. Kimmi Kumangai, who was 1-for-2, also had a big RBI single in the inning.

Kaylee Lawson started for Glacier Peak (5-2, 5-4) and pitched well until her defense let her down a bit in the fifth when she exited. The only run she gave up prior to that inning was earned on a squeeze bunt by Jessica Mirante in the fourth.
