Avra, a junior forward, scored six of his 12 points in the fourth quarter as the Marauders rallied to beat rival Kamiak 53-51 in a Wesco 4A game. Mariner (11-1 overall, 6-0 Wesco 4A) extended its perfect start to conference play with the win.
Lindsey Ho, Mountlake Terrace girls basketball
Ho, a sophomore guard, scored a game-high 24 points as the Hawks earned their first Wesco 3A/2A win of the season in a 58-53 victory over Oak Harbor.
Cheron Smith, Marysville Getchell boys wrestling
Smith, a sophomore 220-pounder, bumped up to 285 pounds and beat Marysville Pilchuck’s Justin Albee 6-4 in double overtime as the Chargers earned their first-ever dual-meet victory over the Tomahawks in a 54-24 win. Albee was ranked sixth in 3A in the latest Washington Wrestling Report rankings.
Jenna Villa, Arlington girls basketball
Villa, a freshman guard, scored eight of her 11 points during the pivotal third quarter in the Eagles’ 60-34 Wesco 3A/2A win at Edmonds-Woodway, in which Arlington widened a two-point halftime advantage to a 17-point lead.
