Gunnar Sturlaugson and Ethan Ellis, Snohomish boys tennis
Sturlaugson and Ellis, both juniors, defeated Stanwood’s Chase Larkin and Kade Getzinger in three sets, overcoming a first-set loss in a tiebreak, to help the Panthers to a 4-3 win over the Spartans in a Wesco 3A North match. The victory extended Snohomish’s 4-0 start to conference play.
Paige Moss, Shorecrest girls swimming
Moss, a senior, won two individual events (50 freestyle, 100 butterfly) and swam on two winning relays (200 medley, 200 freestyle) to help the Scots topple Kamiak 100-86 in a Wesco South meet.
Bree Nichols, Snohomish girls soccer
Nichols, a junior forward, scored a golden goal in the second period of extra time to lift the Panthers to a 2-1 win over Cedarcrest in a Wesco 3A match.
Kirsten Crane, Marysville Getchell girls soccer
Crane, a freshman midfielder, scored a goal and added an assist, impacting both goals in the Chargers’ 2-1 win over Edmonds-Woodway in a battle of early-season Wesco 3A leaders.
Leielle Salinger, Oak Harbor volleyball
Salinger, a senior outside hitter, recorded 18 kills, 15 digs and three service aces in a 3-1 win over Archbishop Murphy in a Wesco 3A/2A match.
