MARYSVILLE — Kamiak upped its dual-meet record to 16-0 this season with a 114-72 nonleague win over Wesco North-leading Marysville-Pilchuck on Thursday at the Marysville-Pilchuck Pool.
The Knights, who are 45-0 in dual meets over the last three seasons, earned the win with superior depth
and four class 4A state meet qualifying times.
“We were not incredibly sharp today,” Kamiak head coach Chris Erickson said. “We had some kids swim well … others we were a little flat.”
Spencer Girard earned state times for the Tomahawks in the 200-yard individual medley and the 100 breaststroke.
Kamiak will test its mettle against perhaps its toughest dual meet opponent of the season on Tuesday against Shorewood at the Kamiak Pool.
Shorewood’s Thor Stenfjord and Mackey Hopen will challenge the Knights in their individual events, after that it comes down to depth, Erickson said.
“Those guys (Stenfjord and Hopen) are elite high school athletes and they’ve got a pretty good supporting cast,” Erickson said.
