PREP TENNIS/GOLF ROUNDUP: Glacier Peak pair win doubles crown

MT. VERNON — Monica Gille and Sarah Desautels won the 3A District 1 girls tennis doubles championship to lead Glacier Peak to the team title Wednesday at Mt. Vernon H.S.

Gille and Desautels lost the first set of the final match 6-4 to Holly Russell and Alysia Noriega of Everett, but came back to win a second-set tiebreaker 7-4. They then took the third set 6-3.

The victors earned a berth in the 3A state meet May 28-29 at the Vancouver Tennis Center.

Russell and Noriega meet teammates Anna Lauritzen and Jackie Nguyen for a second state berth at 2 p.m. today at Harbor Square Athletic Club in Edmonds.

Sedro-Woolley’s Kilee Beuse won the singles crown 7-5, 6-2 over Josie Dow of Meadowdale. Dow plays Shorecrest’s Meera Limaye for the district’s second state berth at 2 p.m, today at Harbor Square.

At Mt. Vernon H.S.
