PREP TRACK ROUNDUP: Jackson sweeps district rivals

EVERETT — The Jackson boys dominated the running while the Jackson girls took care of the field events for a Timberwolves sweep in Friday’s Everett School District track and field meet.

The Timberwolves boys posted 72 points, with three different individual winners and a win in the 1,600 meter relay. They beat Everett’s 63 points and Cascade finished with 46.

Jackson’s Blake Nelson (51.88 seconds) edged his teammate Marcus Brown (53.73) in the 400-meter event, with three of the top four finishers from Jackson. Jackson also claimed three of the top four spots in the 800.

Cascade’s Timothy St. Marie had a toss of 52 feet, 7 inches in the shot put, beating second place by more than 6 feet. St. Marie also won the discus with a throw of 163-10, just under 10 feet farther than second place.

The Timberwolves’ girls team took advantage of their depth in the field events, posting 95 points with Cascade a distant second place with 53 points. Jackson’s girls swept the top four spots in the discus with Kiana Eaton hurling the disc 100-4. Second-place Samantha Bowers finished at 98-5.

Bowers won the shot put at 38-1 with Eaton throwing 33-11.5 for second place.
