Prep Track Roundup: Lake Stevens’ Pahukoa shines in Pasco

PASCO — In one of track and field’s bigger meets, four local high schools joined 53 others at the Pasco Invitational on Saturday. Lake Stevens was the lone 4A high school, while Shorecrest was there for 3A and Cedarcrest and Lakewood represented the area’s 2A schools.

When the final points were tallied, Mead High School took home first place for boys with a point total of 60 while Meridian (54) took second and North Central and Wenatchee tied for third place with 36 points each. For the girls side, it was Kentwood leading the way with 56 points, Jesuit (41) taking second and Southridge (38) landing third.

Shorecrest High School’s Jordan Brown placed first in the long jump with a jump of 22 feet, 113/4 inches. The jump not only won him first place in the meet, but also set a school record. Also, Lakewood High School scored a third-place finish in the girls distance medley. The team of sophomore Rachel Cundy, junior Kelsey Anderson, senior Erin Dierickx and freshman Ariel Jensen finished in 12 minutes and 54.04 seconds, just behind the Jesuit time of 12:20.12.

Also, Jackson Pleis of Cedarcrest placed seventh out of 34 athletes in the triple jump with a leap of 43-1/4. Nick Howe, a senior out of Lakewood, placed fifth in the 800 meter race with a time of 1:57.17 and junior Elisha Ahern of Shorecrest took fourth in the triple jump event with a jump of 35-21/2.
