SNOHOMISH — Coming off a lackluster win over Shorecrest on Tuesday, Glacier Peak head coach Christopher Pratt knew a better performance would be required against Shorewood, especially since the Thunderbirds were coming off a win over previously unbeaten Mountlake Terrace.
After a good practice on Wednesday, Pratt got the effort he wanted on gameday as the Grizzlies swept aside Shorewood 25-14, 25-20, 25-22.
“It was not a remarkable match,” said Pratt afterwards. “We were very business-like in our approach. We refocusesd on doing the little things right, being on the right place on the court and not making unforced errors.
As usual the tandem of Maddi Ober and Ruby Mensing powered Glacier Peak. Ober tallied 14 kills and 10 digs and Mensing added 11 kills. Setter Reanna Jarchow had 29 assists and 10 digs.
Shorewood was led by Monica Postor with seven kills and Marianne Kellogg who had 21 digs.
“I can tell Shorewood is a good team,” said Pratt. “We really took them out of the their match, but I’m not sure it’s going to be as easy when we play them again at Shorewood.”
