ARLINGTON — Audrey Frolich pounded out 30 kills for Arlington on Thursday night, but it wasn’t enough for the Eagles to overcome Shorecrest in a five-set Wesco 3A North defeat.
Frolich, a senior, had a huge night against the Scots, but Shorecrest (3-2 league, 6-2 overall) rallied from a 2-1 deficit to take the fourth and fifth sets and the victory.
Hallie Williams led Shorecrest with 17 kills, and Lauren Rutter dished out 41 assists.
Arlington coach Whitney Williams said the Eagles just couldn’t put Shorecrest away after winning the third set 25-11.
“We have a somewhat young team that is still learning how to be successful,” she said. “We got served out of system to start the fourth set and we had a hard time getting it back. It was a failure to execute on our part.”
Williams said Shorecrest did a good job of digging balls up and keeping rallies going.
“Shorecrest found their footing again in the fourth and fifth sets,” she said. “They learned our tendencies a little bit, and what came easily to us earlier in the match didn’t work as well later on.”
Ally Peterson had 46 assists for Arlington (3-1, 4-2).
