Prep volleyball/boys soccer: Mountlake Terrace clinches 4A district playoff berth

MOUNTLAKE TERRACE — It took a little bit longer than they would have preferred, but after dropping the first set 20-25, Mountlake Terrace was able to come back and win the next three sets 25-23, 25-18, 25-18 to win a Wesco South match against Jackson Tuesday at Mountlake Terrace H.S.

Coupled with a loss by Mariner, the win clinched a 4A District 1 playoff berth for the Hawks.

“We played with intensity,” Mountlake Terrace head coach Marietta Snyder said. “We played with so much passion tonight.”

After falling behind in the first set 10-20, the Hawks (4-3 in league, 6-6 overall) came roaring back to make the first set close. On Senior Night the Hawks were led by a couple of juniors. Jenna Donohue had 14 kills and Christine Jenson had 29 assists for Mountlake Terrace.

“I think our girls played as a team tonight,” Snyder said. “If they continue to play like this — and they should — they could have a great finish to their season.”
