I figured this was worth bringing to people’s attention. Ryan Murray, the 15-year-old defenseman who was Everett’s first-round pick in the 2008 bantam draft, is going bonkers. In his last 11 games for the Moose Jaw Warriors of the SMAAAHL he has 23 points, including two hat tricks. That’s right, that’s a defenseman who’s doing that — in what is a tough midget league.
One of Everett’s issues right now is transitioning the puck successfully from the defense to the forwards, thus getting the puck to the offensive players in a position where they can use it. In the following four seasons Murray should help in that area big time.
