Raiders sign Walker, Harris

RAIDERS: Oakland agreed to terms with former Pro Bowl receiver Javon Walker and free agent offensive tackle Kwame Harris, adding two offensive players the team hopes will help quarterback JaMarcus Russell. Walker, who was released by Denver last week, will receive a $6 million signing bonus and $5 million in salary in each of the first two years. The six-year deal could be worth up to $55 million, a person familiar with the contract said on condition of anonymity because the terms were not released. Harris, a former 49er, is guaranteed $3 million in the first year of his deal that would pay him $16 million over three years, the person said.

FALCONS: Atlanta released quarterback Joey Harrington. The Falcons cut veteran quarterback Byron Leftwich last month. The release of Harrington may increase the chances the team will take a quarterback, perhaps Matt Ryan, with the No. 3 overall selection in the draft. Ryan, from Boston College, is widely considered the top quarterback in the draft.

RAVENS: Terrell Suggs has filed a grievance against the Ravens, saying he should be designated as a defensive end instead of a linebacker. The Ravens used the franchise tag on Suggs on Feb.19, keeping him off the free-agent market with a one-year tender worth $8.065 million (the average of the five highest-paid linebackers in the NFL). But Suggs wants the one-year tag of $8.879 million for defensive ends — $814,000 more than what linebackers receive. Suggs contends he should be considered a defensive end because more than half of the snaps he played came as a pass-rushing end. But the Ravens argue that Suggs plays linebacker in the team’s base defense and has always been listed as a linebacker on the Pro Bowl ballot.

PATRIOTS: New England Patriots re-signed veteran wide receiver Jabar Gaffney.

PANTHERS: Carolina agreed to terms with free-agent defensive end Tyler Brayton on a two-year deal.

LIONS: Detroit re-signed running back Aveion Cason and signed free-agent guard Corey Hulsey to one-year contracts.

BUCCANEERS: Free agent linebackers Matt McCoy and Teddy Lehman signed with Tampa Bay.

JAGUARS: Jacksonville signed defensive tackle Jimmy Kennedy, offensive tackles Pete McMahon and Ryan Gibbons and long-snapper Brett Goode.

BROWNS: ESPN reported defensive tackle Shaun Rogers and Cleveland agreed to a six-year, $42 million deal, a restructuring that will keep Rogers in Cleveland until 2013. With his existing contract scheduled to expire in 2010, three years and a guaranteed $20 million were added to make the deal work. Under terms of the new contract, Rogers will make $23 million over the first three years. The Browns acquired Rogers on Saturday in exchange for a third-round draft choice and cornerback Leigh Bodden.

RAMS: St. Louis completed a staff reorganization, hiring Terry Shea to coach quarterbacks, Bob Saunders as an offensive assistant and Chuck Faucette as assistant strength and conditioning coach. Shea was quarterbacks coach with the Dolphins the last two seasons. Saunders, the son of new Rams offensive coordinator Al Saunders, was an offensive assistant with the Redskins in 2006 and 2007. He also will be an assistant wide receivers coach with the Rams. Faucette previously was head strength and conditioning coach at Southern Methodist, and assistant strength and conditioning coach at Texas.
