Bummer.
The rain finally fell — it looked like it could snow most of the day — and the big-track opener at Evergreen Speedway was canceled on Saturday night.
My story is on the right under “local auto racing.”
Not getting to watch the races was a little disappointing, but I enjoyed seeing some familiar faces and meeting some new folks in the Northwest racing community.
And, I’ve got to tell you, coming up the grandstand stairs and seeing the track, with the late models of the Northwest Tour racing by during a practice session, was a great feeling.
I stood there for a second and thought to myself: I can’t believe I get paid to watch racing, how great is that?
Northwest Tour promoter Ron Bennett told me recently that “You can’t beat the sights, sounds and smells of Saturday night racing.”
You know what? He’s right. And we’ll have plenty more chances.
Because the rain’s got to stop sometime, right?
