SAN FRANCISCO — The Texas Rangers have added right-handed pitcher Mark Lowe to their roster for the World Series, replacing left-hander Clay Rapada.
Lowe was acquired by the Rangers from Seattle in the July 9 trade with Cliff Lee, who is starting Game 1 for Texas against San Francisco on Wednesday night.
Lowe was on the disabled list recovering from back surgery when he was traded. He made just three relief appearances for the Rangers the final week of the regular season and wasn’t on the roster for the AL division or championship series.
Rapada was added to the Rangers’ roster for the AL championship series, but didn’t appear in any of the six games against the New York Yankees.
