ARLINGTON, Texas — All-Star second baseman Ian Kinsler extended his majors-best hitting streak to 25 games with three hits and drove in three runs for the Texas Rangers, who held on for a wild 12-11 victory over the AL Central-leading Chicago White Sox on Sunday.
Kinsler, who will be an AL reserve for the All-Star game on Tuesday at Yankee Stadium, matched All-Star teammate Michael Young for the second-longest hitting streak in Rangers history. Gabe Kapler hit in 28 straight games in 2000.
Kinsler, the AL’s leading hitter (.337), had doubles in each of the first two innings, increasing his majors-leading total to 34.
Young’s 25-game hitting streak was in 2005. Young had a 23-game hitting streak earlier this season, and that had been the longest in the majors until Kinsler got to 24 on Saturday night.
