The WHL season is approximately a quarter of the way completed, and the divisional standings make for some interesting reading. What we have are four teams that have separated themselves from the rest of their division, with each division leader having a winning percentage at least a .179 better than the next-best team. In the East, Brandon (.806) is way in front of Swift Current (.579); in the Central, Medicine Hat (.767) has a substantial advantage over Edmonton (.588); in the B.C., Kelowna (.906) is already out of sight of Prince George and Victoria (.556); and in the U.S., Everett (.821) has a healthy lead on Spokane (.607).
Those numbers suggest there could be four runaway division champions this season. But more likely, at least one of those teams will find itself in a race. So …
