There is still one more week to go in the girls soccer season and three weeks remain in the football season, but today marks a turning point: The first winter-season high school sports practices.
Around the state, winter sports teams (boys and girls basketball, boys and girls wrestling, and boys swimming and diving) are allowed to practice starting today. (A few other winter sports and activities — gymnastics, bowling, competitive cheer, dance and drill — started earlier this month.)
That brings me to a question I always like to ask this time of year, as I look forward to covering winter athletics: Which winter-season high school sport are you most excited to watch? Share your opinion in this Herald reader poll and explain your choice in the COMMENTS section.
