DETROIT — Red Wings star Kris Draper will serve as grand marshal of Sunday’s Detroit Belle Isle Grand Prix.
The center’s ceremonial duties at the Labor Day weekend race will include commanding the drivers to start their engines. He also will ride in the pace car during the drivers’ parade before the race.
The 37-year-old Canadian said in a statement that he’s a big racing fan.
Draper played 65 games with the Wings last season and helped lead the team to win the Stanley Cup in June, defeating Pittsburgh in six games. It was Draper’s fourth championship in Detroit.
